Connecticut State Soccer
Association (CSSA) won the USASA Donnelly Cup select
team tournament that was held in Lancaster, MA on
July 17-18.
Connecticut beat a tri-state team
8-0 and Rhode Island 6-0 on Saturday. On Sunday,
New Hampshire proved a tough opponent but
Connecticut won 1-0, thereby qualifying for the
final against host Massachusetts. Connecticut
jumped out to a 2-0 lead after twenty minutes and
won the match convincingly, 6-0 (all scores
unconfirmed).
The squad consisted of ten players
from Danbury United, CSL champions, five players
from Glastonbury Celtic, and two SASL players from
Club Napoli, a strong Division I team and CSSA O-30
Cup champions. The team was organized by CSL
President Jack Testani and coached by former PDL coach
Leszek Wrona. |
